Welcome to our #Printfluencer blog series. We’ve absolutely loved getting to know all of our featured founders and beam from ear to ear when we see the My Icon Story prints they have designed on myiconstory.com. The aim was to do one every Friday but in the run up to Christmas we’ve been busy processing your orders and running our first department store pop-up in Debenhams!
This week we are back on track and it is a real pleasure to welcome Elaine Potter as My Icon Story’s latest Printfluencer! Elaine is the fabulous woman behind my amazing new headshots (of which I have included a little selection at the bottom of the blog!)
ELAINE POTTER, ELAINE POTTER PHOTOGRAPHY
In a tweet (280 characters) what do you/your business do?
Elaine Potter. Photographer. I am a creative storyteller who has a passion for bringing to life unique stories through my camera lens. I work with creatives who want to visualise their brand stories through creative imagery, to share with the world.
Did you have a job/career before starting your business?
Yes, I have over 15 years branding and marketing expertise, working with an incredible mix of diverse, high profile clients.
Why did you decide to start your own business?
Becoming a mother over 10 years ago, inspired me to turn a life-long photography passion into a business opportunity. My experience in branding combined with wanting to show how incredible we all are in our individuality, has been the foundation of my photography business.
FINISH THESE SENTENCES…
My business is amazing because…I love nothing more than meeting people, sharing ideas and re-telling life’s stories. And.. I am also a big advocate for making people see just how incredible they are. We all have a story to tell, and I just love that I am able to use my photography skills to capture the true essence of a person – their character, craft, skill and personality. It all forms a story and I love using my lens to capture it and help get these stories shared and seen.
This time next year…I would like to still be learning, growing and sharing the stories of many. I also hope to explore more creative portraiture in home interior settings. I’m also planning my first visual art exhibition.

Tell us the story behind your My Icon Story print?
Oh wow this was so much fun! Although I think I need a story for different parts of my life – there’s far too many cool icons to tell my story in 1 frame.. But here goes:
Balham – London. After uni I moved to London and lived with an amazing group of girls in Balham. It was everything you’d image London life in your twenties to be. (from what I remember anyway).
World – I took myself solo around the world for a year, which was just the most incredible experience. From Thailand, Laos and Cambodia to Australia, followed by the glaciers of Chile, Argentina, Paraguay and Bolivia. Then again with my (now husband) through South Africa and Vietnam and then some.. Good times!
Music – I just love music. It’s an inherent part of me. Glastonbury many times, V-Fest, Big Day Out, WOMAD and gigs galore..
Snorkelling – I do love to dive and snorkel whereever I can. And have my advanced PADI don’t you know.
Children – a boy and girl, they mean the world to me. I can’t not have them in myI got married to my amazing man a couple of years ago. Our children were there, it was perfect.
Wedding bands – I got married to my amazing man a couple of years ago. Our children were there, it was perfect.
Tent – We all love camping. At festivals, by the sea, whenever we can.
Camera – my life-line. I really can’t go anywhere without it. I love it and have been capturing photos since the beginning of time. That’s how long it’s been. And now I’m super lucky to have made it my business too.
JUST A BIT OF FUN…
You’re in a cocktail bar. What do you order?
What’s your favourite type of shoe?
If you could have any other job in the world, what would you be?
THANK YOU
