Every Friday we share the story of a fabulous Founder coupled with their very own My Icon Story print which they created on myiconstory.com. This week is another special Founder, Kristina McGuirk. Kristina and I both worked together at a media agency called MEC. We instantly hit it off because of our drive, ambition and passion to create great work! Kristina has a phenomenal CV which you’ll find out below as well as why she decided to take the leap and set up her own company! Over to you Kristina:

In a tweet (280 characters) what do you/your business do?
We use the power of brand to accelerate the worlds top entrepreneurs, leaders and CEO’s helping them thrive in today’s multimedia world and build a legacy they are proud of.
Did you have a job/career before starting your business?
Yes! I have worked for the top 3 media agencies Publicis, WPP and Dentsu Ageis working with some of the worlds leading brands such as L’Oreal, Compare the Market and Morrisons – then I was the Marketing and Board Director for one of the UKs fastest growing Tech companies UKFast!
Why did you decide to start your own business?
I knew I was capable of more but couldn’t do it working for someone else – my goal is to become successful by helping others succeed.
My business is amazing because…there is nothing else out there like it and we genuinely care about helping others build their own legacy
This time next year…we will have scaled up enough to warrant our own office space and more team members

Tell us the story behind your My Icon Story print?
Having worked in the crazy London media agency world straight after university, 6 years in, I decided to move back to my hometown of Manchester. I absolutely love the north (and missed my family) and so it felt right to move back, and it is here where I began my entrepreneur journey setting up a business…and the first icon in my story!
I had been back in Manchester for 3 years, working for one of the fastest growing tech companies as marketing and board director when I discovered a new passion…running! I decided to sign up to the Greater Manchester Marathon, having only run 10k before, training for the marathon became a huge part of my life (I am a great believe in preparation is everything). And it’s through training I fell in love with running, it became my therapy and my thinking time. Going out for my weekend long runs gave me solid hours of time to just think and dream.
Although I loved running, training was tough, and I certainly had moments of self-doubt. It was only after completing the marathon (even after obtaining a last-minute injury) that gave me the confidence to believe I could achieve anything! All of the dreams and ideas I had thought of during training felt like they could be a reality. Enter my lightbulb moment…and the birth of KComms, Entrepreneur Agency.
I left my job and since then have spent hours working on the concept and vision of the business – my head buried in my laptop and working hard. Now I have a couple of clients on board and a huge number of prospects (just 3 months in) and I am planning world domination through helping others achieve success! Bring on the future…peace!
