WOW WOW WOW!! Speechless!
Tuesday 10th September 2019 was a big day – a day I will remember and cherish. I was thrilled to be presented with the Rising Star Award at the Licensing Awards 2019. An absolute honour.
For those who are unfamiliar with the world of Brand Licensing, just think of all the products you buy which feature a brand’s logo or character. Businesses and companies can get a license to feature certain character’s and logos on their own products, and develop fun and innovative brand collaborations – like Clarks’ National Geographic footwear range or a Harry Potter apparel range.
My Icon Story first entered the world of Brand Licensing last year with Transport for London, licensing all the London Underground staton logos so customers can feature them on a personalised My Icon Story Print. Since then, we have launched many more licensed product ranges with the likes of the Natural History Museum, Love Hearts and NYC & Company. It is a brilliant way for a start-up like ourselves to build and grow our audience and product range as well as strengthen our unique selling point in the gift category.
But back to the Licensing Awards!
The night itself was phenomenal. In my past career I attended many awards nights but the Licensing Awards are another level of creativity! Just look at the table and venue decor. The Grosvenor House Hotel is transformed into a real adults playground adorned with all your favourite brands and characters from Barbie to Pokemon, Peaky Blinders to Baby Shark!
The Rising Star Award was the first of the night. When I heard my name being called as the winner, I literally couldn’t believe it.
Winning the award for Rising Star is an absolute honour because it’s so personal. I feel privileged to be part of such a creative, inspiring and innovative industry and I’d like to thank all the individuals and brand teams who have given My Icon Story a chance. As a Solo Founder I believe and back my own business but winning the hearts and support of some of the biggest brands in the world has been a real game changer for the growth and development My Icon Story.
If winning the award wasn’t enough, My Icon Story also received a second mention on stage, providing a special My Icon Story print for the Light Fund charity team who embarked on an epic London to Paris rowing challenge! The bespoke icon print features icons that reflected the team’s route and journey including milestones, landmarks and memorable moments.
A huge thank you to the team at Max Publishing who have supported me and My Icon Story, giving me opportunities like the one above for the Light Fund and featuring my successes in their licensing.net online mag.
I’m really excited for the future of My Icon Story and can’t wait to continue developing and working with more fantastic brands in the years to come.
